Gallo Remixed


Gallo is the oldest music record and publishing company in South Africa. It has been in the fabric of South African music since the 1930s and is home to some of the biggest hits from legendary South African  acts.


The music industry has gone through major disruptions over the past 21 years that has radically changed how music is created, discovered, marketed and consumed.  We were tasked to develop a roadmap and implementation plan for the Gallo Remixed property.


Our aim was to develop a the brand for Gallo’s latest property, Gallo Remixed. The plan will serve as a road map 

for Gallo’s next big pillar moments, Gallo ’95 and the Gallo brand relaunch. 

Our solution was to introduce quarterly remix/remake single releases from Gallo’s catalogue featuring a new age artist, tapping into the original classic song. Over a few single drops, we released an EP  featuring remixed versions of old classic songs by some of South Africa’s greatest artists such as Brenda Fassie, Phuzekhemesi and any more.  

The Remixes were incubated through a creative & agile A&R project team that had to execute remixes months in advance. GALLO REMIXED taps into a global network of creators to produce iconic remakes/remixes from  Africa.


The Results:
Gallo has released an EP on all streaming platforms, featuring our concept of mixing the old with the new. Gallo’s playlist on Spotify has increased in listenership. The Gallo Remixed brand has attracted  some of the promising and established artists to collaborate on old legendary music. The brand continues grow and releasing single and EP albums every year since 2021.
